So it has been a little while since we have posted anything.  I thought I would break the silence and put up a few pictures that I have taken in the past month.  Enjoy!

A Colby & Mommy adventure!

I took Colby to Kopachuck State Park today in hopes of being able to show him some of the wonderful sea life that I saw last time I was there.  Sadly, we did not see any sea life, however, Colby was willing to play model for me for awhile so I could work on my photography lessons.  The only thing Colby was really interested in was throwing rocks in the water... must be a boy thing.

A little exploration

So we went on a little exploration today.  We headed out with a destination in mind, and when we got there, we realized it was a bust for photo opportunities.  Shortly after arriving, the weather further indicated that we were not gonna get anything from that place.  So we headed out for another location not too far away, just to find out that YOU CAN ONLY REACH THAT POINT BY BOAT!!!!  So we decided to drive around and just look, and this is what we found.

Ta-dah!

Finally... I am contributing to this project.  When we started talking about doing a blog, I was really excited, until I started thinking about actually writing posts that people were gonna read.  Hence the lack of my presence thus far.  I will no longer procrastinate.  Jess has inspired me to just put it out there.  So here goes.

I have not known Jess very long, but I felt like we clicked right away.  The first time I met her, we were busy moving our belongings into our new housing, and she offered to watch our kids at the playground while we were busy working.  I remember thinking, "Wow, super nice lady, hope I get to know her."  Boy, did I get to know her ; )  We have become great friends and I would do anything for her.

I have two kids, Gracie is 7 and Colby is 5.  I love my kids and they keep me on my toes.  We have had many adventures together and look forward to many more.  I love trying to give my kids new experiences and teaching them new things.  I want to give them as many life experiences as possible.  We live in a beautiful state with many places to explore.  I am excited to share these adventures with you through the lens of my camera.  Hope you enjoy!

introducing....my children!

so i know it was mentioned that you'd see mostly photos of our children here, well, here are my two!  owen is five and addie is six months, but not for long!  i'm madly in love with them, and i couldn't have asked for two better subjects to take pictures of!  i hope you enjoy seeing these as much as i've enjoyed taking them.  i'm always looking for new places to check out with them, so if you're local and have suggestions, we'd LOVE to hear them.

state parks

whomever it was that decided to devote land as state parks, bravo!  today, jen and i thoroughly enjoyed ourselves at kopachuck state park in gig harbor.  never before have i seen so many sand dollars on one beach!  there were also a bunch of starfish, or sea stars as my five year old has learned to call them from our trusty babysitter, nick jr. (hey, at least it's educational!).  purple, red and orange, five legs (or are they arms?), 15 legs, sitting on the beach in a tide pool, attached to a giant rock as it's lapped by gentle waves.  it was truly incredible.  this was the stuff you only see after you've paid fifteen bucks per person at the aquarium, except we got the live show, AND it was FREEEEE!!  socks got wet, and shoes got dirty, but it was oh so worth it!  who could have asked for more?  it truly is a blessing that we live in a place with such life enriching places.  state parks are fantastic places for some great photo ops, and no matter if you live near a beach, or in the middle of our country, please, take the time to get out and explore.  state parks were designed with you in mind, and everyone, everywhere should take advantage of that!  get that camera out, dust it off (we know...), and get to snappin.  then come share with us what you find!

this is the purple starfish we came across first.

and i HAD to add this picture so you could see i haven't edited it at all...it really is THAT purple!!

the beginning of a blog...

the beginning.  that's where we're at.  the time when everything is starting to take shape, but is still just new enough to cause trouble.  it almost seems like it's just not worth it to figure this out, but that would be silly.  there are so many photos that simply must be shared, and posting to facebook just doesn't earn the recognition that they deserve.  sure, friends and family leave comments, but they HAVE to say nice things, right?  in order to feel like there's actually a place in this world where these photos belong, one must reach past one's comfort zone, put yourself out there, and hope for the best.  so that's what this feels like, in the beginning.  the excitement, the wonder, the hopefulness, the anxiety, the relief.  the feeling of "i hope everyone likes this and doesn't think i'm lame."  well, guess what....who cares?  the thought is that all of you will, but knowledge is understanding that might not happen.  the big girl panties are on, and it's time for some accountability.  there are so many good things to come, but please remember, this is only the beginning...
